Head's Welcome

Welcome to Chatsworth High School and Community College’s website.  I am proud and privileged to be a part of this school’s community, having taken up Headship in September, and look forward to leading the school forward, following a very positive Ofsted inspection at the start of the term.  We are deemed an Outstanding school, but will not rest on our laurels, and want our school to be world class.  It is my aim for our students to be happy and healthy and to enjoy their time at school before moving on to college, a work-placement or other organisation.

Our students are at the heart of everything we do here at Chatsworth.   I can assure you that the staff team is committed and conscientious, and that we all want each student to thrive emotionally, physically, socially and academically – for each person to be the best they can be.  Many of our students face a number of challenges, and we are constantly looking for new ways of working, to support them and their families.  It is my firm belief that everyone deserves a quality education along with rich, cultural experiences, which we strive to provide.   We are committed to a holistic view of each young person, ensuring that alongside more traditional lessons (with our shiny, new, tailored curriculum), there are opportunities to promote independence and nurture positive attitudes and tolerance of others.

This year in school we are focusing on a number of initiatives which we feel will benefit our students, such as: the Emotionally Friendly Schools programme; the International School Award, which goes hand-in-hand with becoming a Fair Trade School; Artsmark, which will support creativity and learning across the curriculum; and the Rights Respecting Schools Award, to promote personal development.  We also want to promote a love of reading, and are working towards the Gatsby Benchmarks to ensure we are providing a wide-ranging, relevant Careers programme for all (which may, for some, be as simple as recognising different jobs in society).  I’m particularly looking forward to our Super Learning Days, and hope to be able to take part in some of the fun activities with our students.

I hope that our students will look back on their time at Chatsworth with fond memories, and that they will take a little bit of us with them on their journey.
