Welcome to Chatsworth High School and Community College. It is a privilege to work at Chatsworth and be a part of such a positive, thriving school and community. Returning to some normality following a turbulent 18 months has been really refreshing, and it is fantastic to see the school full of students and staff again.
Our students will always be central to everything we do at Chatsworth. Their physical and emotional wellbeing is our primary concern, along with their social and educational progress. We have high aspirations for all our students, as I am sure you have, for your children. Our staff team is highly committed to meeting students’ needs and preparing them as best we can for their future, as we strive to provide an engaging, enjoyable and purposeful curriculum. This is individualised for students, with a range of interventions to support those who need it – including a range of therapies.
Chatsworth is an Emotionally Friendly School and a Rights Respecting School (we gained Bronze this year and are now aiming for Silver), and we continue to work towards the International School Award, gaining Artsmark Award and being Fair Trade School. The process of achieving these awards should provide an enhanced focus on each area – wellbeing, rights and responsibilities, learning through creativity and knowledge of the wider world. We also pride ourselves on our Careers Information, Education and Guidance, with activities starting in Year 7. We are currently developing a training kitchen on one of our sites, which will provide real work experience and training, and a community link for our older students. We are also still keen to promote a love of reading, regardless of ability levels and also created a Communication Friendly Space to promote a sensory approach to this. All of this supports our aim to be a World Class School, alongside our ongoing self-improvement plans.
I look forward to seeing out students develop into the happiest, healthiest, most independent and successful people they can be, and hope that when they leave they remember their time with us fondly.
