Re-opening of school Tues 5th Jan

Returning to school on Tuesday 5th January 2021

Dear Parents and Carers,
I hope you and your family are well and have enjoyed something of a Christmas break despite the challenges of the times we live in.

I am contacting you because you will have heard or read about the government’s announcement regarding the re-opening of schools in January 2021. Please note, that Chatsworth High School and Community College and Chatsworth Futures will be re-opening as previously planned and will not be affected by the changes announced by the government. This is because special schools and specialist colleges are to remain open nationally.

Therefore, following the Christmas holiday period Chatsworth High School and Community College will open to pupils on Tuesday 5th January 2021 and Chatsworth Futures will open to learners on Wednesday 6th January 2021.

Clearly, there are many real and significant concerns about the spread of the Covid-19 virus and we must all do everything we can to protect ourselves and our communities. We will continue to risk assess every individual pupil, learner and member of staff and closely monitor the situation as we move forward.

Families must follow the Tier 4 restrictions and observe the protocols we have put in place as a Trust. Please be extremely vigilant and cautious. Recent public health information states

We are seeing people test positive with other symptoms not just the fever, cough or loss of taste or smell. If you think you may have the virus or you are unwell in any way, you must book a test. This will help to find positive cases sooner and reduce the length of time that someone with symptoms can pass on the virus.

In line with this, we require families to keep pupils and learners at home if they are in any way unwell. Where possible, families must book a test, wait until the results have been returned and then follow the advice they receive. Where testing may prove difficult, parents or carers must contact the school or college directly and discuss the individual circumstances of the case. We ask for your continuing support in order to manage this very dangerous pandemic at this particularly critical stage.

Finally, I would like to wish you a happy New Year and hope that 2021 brings with it a new start and a healthier future.
